“Being a big fan of fantastic tales, but not often seeing people who look like me within them, I wanted to create my own version. This project is just that – a fantastical, visual tale where I narrate how Black bodies are capable of doing wonders, but also sometimes just Black bodies existing, simply and beautifully.”
Delfine Carmona
Delfine Carmon is an icon, her photography is all in the shadows. Delfine has created herself an icon, a character, that tells a creative adventure of everyday life. using different elements including a constant and almost tangible presence in her work. she has made a mark for her self with her warm and vibrant tones of all sorts
The marked contrasts are accentuated by warm tones, where yellow and red prevail, sometimes muffled by electric blue. This narrative coherence brings the audience closer together, as they feel part of the character’s routine and “love” her image. Delfina Carmona has created her imagination, a world made of suggestions, lights, shadows and simplicity. Take a look at the gallery below. |
"My advice to any girl or woman who is starting is that she can always be honest with herself. That she has to learn to love and value herself, to really want her personal creative side, to listen to herself internally and to be faithful to whatever begins to beat inside her. Do not let yourself be overwhelmed by anything or anyone, never let someone tell you that you can not do something."

My response: Part One
For this project we were asked to take a series of 20-30 images of you own interpretation of 'HOME':
Evaluation:
For my interpretation of home shown in my images is the people in my life, for this I used my family. I took a series of images of images of my family doing things around the house which ether reminds me of the person or shows the sense of warmth and homeliness pithing the images. from the end results of my photos I believe this project went surpassingly well considering I was very hesitant to do this project due to the fact I dint think I would bet able to finds any ideas or inspiration for my images and framing.
Part: Two
This was my final photoshoot. For these images i tried to focus on a different angle of my home life, took more images of my surrounding and what i see and home instead of the people i see and associate as home and that warmth feeling if home.
Frank Frances - a Brooklyn-based home and still life photographer
For Frances this project relates to home from the perspective of his culture and family. It Varys on which image you are looking at but some relate to food and some to culture. they all link to memories he is trying to show what will most likely on get through to those that have lived in similar cultures or family’s which I have not so I do not really get these memories. Frances mainly uses culture and experience into his work through the metaphor of masked culture.
My Response : Part 1
Evaluation:
For my response to frank Frances work we were given a series objects to chose from and were asked top go out and take several images of these objects in different and unique ways. The objects I chose were a toy car, a film camera, frame, clock, and a blue ball. my favourite image out of all 9 of my photographs is this one, this is because I think I links well into the randomness and uniqueness of what we were asked to do and also showed the viewer the best interpretation of my response to frank Frances work.

Collaborative still-life
We were instructed to use our personal items (as a group) and to create a still-life and photograph this set up.
Evaluation
We functioned admirably together to make a still life picture with our articles, I think toward the starting we were confined to one idea anyway we immediately thought of different thoughts where we utilized shaded channels and telephone lights to illuminate the shells and make other lighting making the concentrate seriously intriguing. I think I discovered that having a decent foundation and pleasant difference in light is exceptionally valuable to improve looking pictures.
Niall McDiarmid
This series focuses on the ritul of fmily life broken aprt but chnges of light thaat are lightly framed by windows, people nd everyday objects. i personally wonder if Mcdirmond's opinion on breakfast changed over the course of the 4 years. i thik that this focus on breakfast is intresting s we have changed into. world where we comercialise this time but also sy that due to lte stage cpitalism we have lost it esspecialy ithin the proffecional middle classes because of this i wonder whether mcdirmond explored both the chnges in gthis time and specifically the class diffrences.
Diptych
these images are similar as they were both taken in a similar place, a train-station. they are also similar as they are both taken in black and white, i decided to edit these images into black and white to give the audience something more to look at as they would have to think about what colours are in these images which would make them more interested in these images .
Diptych: Part 1
This we my first time putting some of my images together to create several diptychs to express home life I'm my perspective. these images were put together by choice in what i thought would go well together.
Diptychs: Part 2
These are my final diptychs
these were all Diptychs made unintentional, I printed them out and put them face down on a table and picked up two at the same time and then they became my Diptychs. I can see now that they have some similarities to them and coincidentally look pretty good together.
My final selection
I decided on these two final images as I really liked the contrast between both colours as there is such a bright blue in the image on the left and the black and white shows the potential colour could be within the black and white so i like the differences, this is why I decided on this Diptychs as my final one.
